BYD delivers 470 all-electric buses to Colombia

BYD delivered 470 electric buses to Bogotá, Colombia, on December 17, the largest fleet of electric buses in the country, the company said on Friday.

The first 120 buses were delivered at a ceremony hosted by the Bogotá City Council and the Bogotá City Transit Authority.

The buses will be placed on nine routes in the city on December 26, and the remaining 350 are scheduled to be placed on 30 other routes in the first quarter of 2021.

The buses are 12 and 9 meters in size and have a capacity of 80 and 50 passengers respectively. They take about 1.5-2.5 hours to charge and have a range of more than 300 kilometers on a single charge.

The buses are equipped with on-board TVs, on-board WIFI, security cameras, smart bus systems, USB ports for cell phone charging, and a handicapped boarding and alighting assistance system.
