Tesla opened the Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) option in China on February 5 at a price of RMB 32,000 ($4,943), half the price of Full Self-Driving (FSD) in China.
EAP adds five functions compared to Basic Autopilot (BAP), including Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, Summon, and Smart Summon.
With the optional EAP on, users only need to turn the turn signal all the way down and the vehicle can automatically change lanes after turning on Active Cruise.
In the case of a car behind, the vehicle will wait for the car behind to pass before changing lanes. If the vehicle has not overtaken for a long time, the vehicle will automatically accelerate before changing lanes, which is not much different from manned driving.
EAP also adds Smart Summon and Summon, which is very convenient when parking and picking up a car in the rain.
Tesla has introduced this feature for a limited time from September 20-30, 2020.
On February 27, 2019, Tesla stopped offering EAP and replaced it with BAP, which only includes Adaptive Cruise Control and Autosteer.
Since BAP comes standard on all newly-minted Tesla vehicles, only customers who want to use the company’s FSD suite will need to make additional payments.
Full Autopilot has not yet been officially pushed and opened for use in China, so Tesla’s FSD option rate in China is very low.
Compared with the FSD, the EAP lacks Traffic and Stop Sign Control, Autosteer on city streets, and full self-driving.
