Nio announced earlier this week that it has reached 300 battery swap stations in China, including one in the southwestern Chinese city of Chongqing. Now, dozens of Nio’s supercharging piles are also put into operation here.

Nio’s energy replenishment site including a second-generation battery swap station and 50 supercharging piles in Chongqing became fully operational on July 3, making it the largest in China, according to the company.

This is Nio’s first replenishment facility in Chongqing with both a battery swap station and supercharging stations, according to Nio.

Nio put the first second-generation battery swap station into operation on April 15, which can store up to 13 batteries and provide up to 312 services per day.

The second-generation battery swap station also allows users to automatically park their vehicles in the station and initiate a battery change at the click of a button on the center console without having to get out of the vehicle. In the first-generation battery swap station, the user must get out of the car to change the vehicle’s battery.

Nio’s supercharging pile has a maximum power of 150kW and can provide up to 1,000 services per day, according to Nio.

Nio’s supercharging piles are not only available for Nio owners, but all electric vehicle owners can use it.

The Nio site in Chongqing uses stepped pricing for electricity based on different time periods, with a maximum of RMB 0.91/kWh and a minimum of RMB 0.31/kWh, and a service charge of RMB 0.4/kWh.

On July 3, all electric vehicle owners will be charged free of service charges using the fast charging piles here, and from July 4 to July 10, Nio owners can enjoy a 50 percent discount on service charges when charging, Nio said.

As of July 3, Nio has seven battery swap stations, four supercharging stations, and seven destination charging stations in Chongqing, with access to more than 10,000 third-party charging piles.

Nio currently has 300 battery swap stations and 202 supercharging stations in China, including 1,598 supercharging piles. It also has 380 destination charging stations with access to over 380,000 third-party charging piles.
