BYD sold 81,040 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in October, up 249 percent from a year ago and 14 percent from September.
That includes 80,003 new energy passenger cars, and 1,037 commercial vehicles, the company said in an announcement filed with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange today.
Among new energy passenger vehicles, BYD sold 41,232 pure electric vehicles in October, up 176 percent from 14,919 units a year earlier. It sold 38,771 units of plug-in hybrids in October, up 444 percent from 7,126 units a year earlier.
From January to October, BYD’s NEV sales were 418,600 units, up 212 percent from the same period last year.
It sold 410,801 new energy passenger vehicles in the first 10 months, up 226 percent year-on-year, and 7,818 commercial vehicles, down 5 percent year-on-year.
BYD sold 226,356 all-electric passenger vehicles from January to October, up 143 percent year-on-year. It sold 184,445 plug-in hybrids during the period, up 465 percent from a year earlier.
The company sold 8,895 fuel-powered vehicles in October, down 64 percent from 24,515 in the same month last year. From January to October, it sold 124,060 fuel vehicles, down 32 percent from a year earlier.
The company sold 89,935 all vehicles in October, up 88 percent from a year ago. It sold 542,679 all vehicles in the January-October period, up 71 percent from a year earlier.
The company’s total installed capacity of NEV power batteries and energy storage batteries in October was about 4.557 GWh, and the total cumulative installed capacity for the year was about 27.990 GWh.
