HiPhi, China’s homegrown premium electric vehicle (EV) brand, sold 316 HiPhi X units in April, down 31 percent from 459 units in March, according to data released today by the company.

HiPhi is a brand owned by Chinese electric vehicle company Human Horizons and launched its first model, the HiPhi X, in October 2020, with deliveries of the model starting in May 2021.

On January 19, HiPhi announced that it saw the 5,000th production vehicle of the HiPhi X roll off the production line.

The HiPhi X starts at RMB 570,000 ($90,000) for the six-seat version and up to RMB 800,000 for the four-seat version.

The company did not announce sales for May and June last year, and previous data showed that it had accumulated sales of 3,724 units from July to December last year.

The HiPhi X, a luxury all-electric vehicle in China with an average transaction price of nearly 700,000 yuan ($103,950), has accumulated nearly 6,000 units delivered, the company said today.

Over the past year, HiPhi X has continued to lead the market for luxury all-electric vehicles priced above RMB 500,000, especially into 2022, gaining more than 25 percent share in its segment, it said.

In April, the automotive industry was under pressure in several segments, including supply chain, production and logistics and transportation, due to the continuation of the Covid outbreak, and most car companies were severely impacted in production and delivery, it said.

HiPhi has done its best to ensure that production proceeds during this period and that users do not need to leave home to get delivery, it said.
