On February 2, local media reported that Nio was offering significant discounts on some models to boost sales.
Nio later clarified that this was its move to dispose of a small number of inventory vehicles, but the discounts were not as high as the reports mentioned.
The company released its official purchase discount program on February 3, including subsidies for the purchase of its NT 1.0 platform models, additional discounts for stock cars and small cash discounts for the purchases of NT 2.0 platform models.
On February 15, rumors surfaced that Nio was about to discontinue its NT 1.0 platform-based products and that the inventory cars would be sold to a particular entity.
Nio later said that these rumors were false, but that the company’s older models were indeed being withdrawn from the market as planned.
