I keep threatening to completely rework my mess of a garage. My biggest problem is storage. For Amazon Prime Days, I’m finding plenty of huge discounts on racks, shelving, and all the things I need to bring some organization to a chaotic mess of what is currently half garage and half storage unit.
Lately, I’ve been talking to a manufacturer called Fleximounts about using some of its products to handle some or all of my racking needs. I’m particularly interested in the overhead hanging mounts. They happen to be on sale for $134.99 and can hold up to 600 pounds on a 4×8 foot rack. Fleximounts also has 4×4 foot units that support 300 pounds, but you can raise and lower the platform with a winch system. I like the idea of starting from the ceiling down for storage to free up floor space. And, as our hero Adam Savage always says, “There’s always more room on the Z-axis.” I love that guy.
Hanging racks are great for stuff in long-term storage, but I’m still going to need more cabinets for stuff the requires more immediate retrievability. This metal storage cabinet with lockable doors and four adjustable shelves on wheels is super tempting and is currently just $172.79. I like the idea of having the ability to move it around, I also know that every dropped fastener ends up rolling underneath things like that. There are a ton of choices for cabinets on sale right now.
With the number of power tools, batteries, and chargers I’ve amassed over the years, I should think about something like this heavy-duty power tool organizer wall mount on sale for $47.99. I also have a bit of a bicycle problem, so that needs to be figured out as well.
