BYD’s (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) ultra-luxury sub-brand Yangwang announced on Weibo today that it has officially begun deliveries of the U7 sedan, following the launch of the model at the end of March.
U7 is now arriving at Yangwang’s stores across Chinese cities, the brand said, without providing further details.
Yangwang launched U7 on March 27, marking the brand’s third model, with a starting price of RMB 628,000 ($87,370).
U7 is another model targeting the ultra-luxury sedan segment in China, alongside a few others such as the Nio (NYSE: NIO) ET7 and Maextro S800 co-developed by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).
Yangwang offers U7 as both in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) options, with four-seat and five-seat configurations available.
Its dimensions are 5,265 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,517 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm.
U7 is built on Yangwang’s e4 technology, powered by four electric motors, each with a peak power of 240 kW, resulting in a total power output of 960 kW and a peak torque of 1,584 Nm. This powertrain enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds.
The model is equipped with the new DiSus-Z body control system, the most advanced variant of BYD’s DiSus system, offering enhanced comfort.
In addition to U7, Yangwang currently offers the U8 off-road SUV (sport utility vehicle) with a starting price of RMB 1,098,000, and the U9 electric supercar with a starting price of RMB 1,680,000.
