Things have already started working in its favour, as bookings have crossed the 12k mark. However, a lot more will be needed to reclaim the top spot. In terms of design and styling, Creta’s rivals do not seem to lag behind. All these SUVs have their distinctive profile, which makes it tough to say which one is the most gorgeous. For example, Seltos makes heads turn with its crown jewel LED headlamps and heartbeat DRLs whereas Harrier relies on Impact Design 2.0 philosophy to create a powerful road presence. Similarly, Hector looks regal with its sleek LED DRLs, large front grille with smooth mesh design and prominent skid plate.  The choice of the SUV will eventually depend on features that users find to be most attractive.

2020 Creta comes with plush, spacious and comfortable interiors that enhance overall ride experience for every journey. The ‘Bose’ tag on the inside, featuring a premium 8-speaker sound system is among the key highlights of new Creta. Kia Seltos comes with premium, spacious interiors, offering features such as 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-inch head-up display, ventilated & power seats and smart air purifier. Seltos also has Bose sound system, just like new Creta. Tata Harrier’s interiors combine luxury with utility to deliver enhanced in-cabin experience. Some key features include panoramic sunroof, cooled storage, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, and glove box with laptop tray. Hector features luxurious interiors, complete with leather seats, leather accents on door and dashboard, leather driver armrest, leather wrapped steering wheel, 8 colours ambient lighting and front and rear reading lights. It has 10.4 inch touchscreen infotainment system and premium sound system by Infinity.

New Creta gets three BS6 engine options, the same ones being used on Kia Seltos. The 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine delivers max power of 115 ps and max torque of 250 Nm. Engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre petrol engine churns out 115 ps / 144 Nm and is mated to either 6-speed manual or IVT unit. The 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 140 ps / 242 Nm and is mated to 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

Tata Motors has updated Harrier’s 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine to BS6 standards. Power output has also been increased to 170 ps while torque remains the same at 350 Nm. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. MG Hector has three engine options, with the diesel unit being the same as Harrier. However, Hector diesel does not offer automatic transmission. Hector’s 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 143 ps / 250 Nm and comes mated to 6-speed manual or DCT unit. The 1.5-litre petrol hybrid has the same power and torque output, but it comes mated to only 6-speed manual transmission.

New Creta is equipped with advanced safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM), rear disc brakes, hill start assist control (HAC), and rear parking sensors with camera. Rivals also have a similar setup, give or take a few.

All-new Creta comes with advanced Blue Link tech that offers a range of connectivity and voice-activated features. Some key features include stolen vehicle tracking, immobilizer, remote car controls such as engine start / stop, and vehicle health report. Seltos offers similar features across safety, convenience, remote access, navigation and vehicle management via its UVO system. MG Hector is equipped with i-smart tech that offers more than 50 connected car features. Most of these are similar to the ones being offered by new Creta and Seltos. Tata Motors is yet to offer connected features with Harrier. However, looking at rising customer interest in connected car tech, Tata may have to introduce such options in future versions of Harrier.

New Creta starting price is Rs 9.99 lakh, which is quite close to Seltos’s Rs 9.89 lakh. Price of top-spec variants of new Creta and Seltos is also close at Rs 17.20 lakh and Rs 17.34 lakh, respectively. In comparison, Tata Harrier BS6 is priced in the range of Rs 13.69 lakh to Rs 20.25 lakh. MG Hector is available for Rs 12.74 lakh – Rs 17.44 lakh.
